People visit Joshua Tree for it’s stunning national park, though the accomodation options in this desert oasis are just as inviting. I’m going to share a few of our favourite places and where to stay in Joshua Tree.
Warm days exploring and crisp nights by the fire. Empty skies and the endless plains of the high desert. Cactus fields and Joshua Trees. This place is one of our essential stops each time we are in California and there’s so much to see and do in Joshua Tree.
How to get to Joshua Tree
Joshua Tree is a small town and adjoining national park located in California, just over 2 hours drive from LA. Each time we visit with a van or hire car to access the high desert of Joshua Tree and all the surrounding gems in this region. Check out some other places to visit in our South West USA blog.
When to visit Joshua Tree
Being a desert landscape, you can expect very hot, dry weather in the summer and cool temperatures in the winter. We prefer the months of spring and fall. These times of year give warm daytime temps perfect for hiking the national park, while not being too cold at night. Though still expect to have warm clothing at night and try to find yourself a fireplace to snug up with a glass of wine after a day adventuring.
Where to Stay in Joshua Tree
1. Desert Wild, Joshua Tree
On our last visit to Joshua Tree, we stayed at Desert Wild. A stylish desert oasis layered with thoughtful vintage pieces, sprawling cacti gardens, indoor fire place & an outdoor hot tub perfect for stargazing in ultimate comfort. You could almost stay here and never leave your comfy abode, as you are quite literally bordering the National Park & surrounded by Joshua Trees. It’s all the little touches that make this accomodation a destination on its own & one of the best AirBnBs we’ve ever stayed. 5 stars!

2. JTHAVN Bubble House, Joshua Tree
Another amazing Joshua Tree stay is JTHAVN Bubble House. An absolute bucket list wilderness experience where you’ll sleep under the stars in a giant (air-conditioned) bubble. With nothing but desert surrounding you, it’s an extremely peaceful place to retreat after a day exploring.

3. Joshua Tree House
One of the OG hacienda stays in Joshua Tree, the Joshua Tree House has perfected luxury desert living. The vintage styling and moroccan rugs create a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the hammock and outdoor hot tub are the perfect place to put your feet up. We also visited their sister property in Tucson, Arizona and would highly recommend this as well.
