Updated 2022
Best Breakfast and Lunch in Sayulita
– Miscelanea Cafe – open for breakfast and lunch, this is the place for clean eating and plenty of cold brews options.
– Anchor Cafe – our other favourite for morning meals, reasonably priced and great chia and smoothies.
– Organi-K Cafe – amazing acai bowl range here. Good for breakfast but also good for a cooling acai bowl in the shade during a hot day.
– Bonito Cafe – great coffee and breakfast/brunch option a short walk out of the centre of town. It’s attached to Don Bonito boutique hotel which is very aesthetic for a photo while waiting for your food.
Best Dinner in Sayulita
– Bichos – seriously the best Mexican. Serve up your own tacos toppings with fresh ingredients and amazing coctails.
– Mary’s – one of the most popular dinner options for Mexican cuisine. We only ever had the guacamole and tacos because they were so good.
– El Itacate – our other ‘go-to’ Mexican restaurant. Save it for dinner (as lunch is very hot in the street) and try the carrot or the hibiscus vegetarian tacos.
– El Tiburon – if you want to get off the street, the upstairs area has a good vibe and live music while you eat.
– La Rustica – Italian food if you want a change-up of cuisines.
Also want to give mentions to Naty’s Cochina for elevated street tacos, Barracuda for seafood and Alas Blancas for a nice beachfront option with sand between your toes. We didn’t visit these but heard good things.
Best Drinks in Sayulita
– Escondido Bar – amazing cocktails (including margarita varieties) with a 2-for-1 happy hour and very friendly staff.
– El Barrilito – straight across the road from Escondido Bar with good cheap margaritas and a more ‘locals’ vibe. You can bar hop to Escondido Bar thanks to their happy hours aligning!
– Atico Bar – have a drink at the bar on a swing, with loud tunes and good guacamole to go with your drinks.
Grocery Shopping in Sayulita
If you have a kitchen in your accomodation, there’s an array of fresh markets to purchase good quality groceries. Some of the small shops and convenience stores can be limited, but if you are happy to visit a few spots you can get everything you need. Here’s where we shopped:
– Alas Blancas – probably the best all-round grocery store located right in town.
– Terrenal Health Food – a short walk from the center of town but with great healthy and organic food options. Some of the best quality foods here.
– Anna Rosa’s market – roadside fruit and vegetables. Don’t forget to bring your own bags.
– Casa Gourmet – bakery for croissants or bread.
Best Places to Eat in San Pancho
Lesser known but arguably more beautiful, Sayulita’s little sister San Pancho (also known as San Fransisco) is well worth a visit. See for yourself in our blog here!
If you do take the short journey to San Pancho, we have you covered for meals too:
- Limbo – insanely creative and curated Mexican dishes! The lentil ceviche was delicious.
- Yasmina’s Itzalanyasayan – owned by the most lovely lady and with equally beautiful food. Great for lunch and dinner (with a cacao shop next door for dessert!)
- Ikan Cochina – tasty seafood Mexican, Chesh loved the octopus tacos.
- Cafe Floresta – just opened for breakfast when we visited but had a healthy menu and located in a beautiful boutique hotel.
- Street taqueria – cheap tacos on Latin America street.
Would love to know your thoughts and any new suggestions for when we return again this year. Enjoy!
