Best Maldives Resorts for Snorkelling

Affordable Maldives Resorts

Ritz Carlton $$$

New & trendy resort with stunning architecture and amazing food.

Very luxe and the perfect splurge for that special occasion. The island and resort is very new, so everything is perfectly manicured for your viewing pleasure.

The unique circular overwater villas are the highlight space for your honeymoon, though the beach villas are equally private and beautiful.

There’s plenty of restaurants to dress up for amazing meals, and the beach area has perfect lounging spaces to watch the sunset with a few cocktails.

Raffles $$$

Small, romantic and intimate resort for a more secluded escape in luxury.

An amazing honeymoon resort that’s in a remote atoll, Raffles has a completely intimate feel. It’s hard to explain this special feeling, so trust me on that.

There’s 22 villas on the tiny palm laced island, and another 16 overwater villas are located a short boat ride away. Both spaces have the exceptional Raffles design aesthetic, and offer stunning spaces to enjoy sunset with a drink in hand.

The spa gets a special mention here for an overwater couples massage, as well the private beach cinema. Also the sunken beach dinner was a highlight for us – a unique way to eat on the beach in a sand carved dining setting!

St Regis Vommuli $$$

Modern luxury and polished experiences for a more refined stay.

St Regis deliver amazing service and quality, for those couples wanting an elevated stay on their honeymoon. Take away all the stress and concentrate on enjoying your Maldives stay in this modern luxury resort.

Both villa categories are exceptional and you’ll be pinching yourself constantly from the airport arrivals until your have checked into your room.

Special moments are guaranteed at the stunning overwater Whale Bar. The hydrotherapy spa followed by a massage is also something to experience, to really get you in that honeymoon mood.

Gili Lankanfushi $$$

Barefoot luxury, with simplistic comforts and natural beauty.

This is one of our favourite resorts in Maldives, so it had to make our honeymoon list. Chesh and I have had so many special moments here over the years.

Aesthetically, it’s perfect. The palm dotted white beach and huge turquoise lagoon is one the best. But it’s the relaxed guests and welcoming energy that sets the best vibe for you to spend quality time together.

The overwater villas are unique and natural, with tubs overlooking the water and outdoor bathrooms. There are even more private villa options where you take your own boat back to your villa! And the romantic private dining on the beach is a must if you honeymoon here.

One & Only Reethi Rah  $$$

Modern & luxurious resort where anything is possible and the service is exceptional.

If you want to honeymoon with the best in polished luxury, while still having plenty to do, look no further than One and Only.

The island is big, so there’s many places to explore while feeling like there’s hardly anyone around. There’s a beautiful beach club with a gelateria, as well as private empty white sand beaches. There’s bespoke dining experiences (like the treetop dinner), sunset sailing trips, snorkelling excursions, and even a turtle rehab centre.

You’ll be left wanting nothing more after your stay here. Anything is possible on One & Only.

Soneva Jani $$$$

Bucket list experience with huge villas and iconic waterslides.

Soneva Jani is the ‘bucketlist’ hotel of the Maldives. If there’s ever a time to invest in a crazy hotel stay, it’s your honeymoon, right?

With some of the largest villas in Maldives, this is a very private stay and one rare place in Maldives that you won’t want to leave the room. Amazing food (with room service suggested) and of course the insane private water slides that launch you into perfect turquoise waters.

Consider even booking for 2 nights of your honeymoon!

Six Senses Laamu $$$

Barefoot luxury in a remote atoll with focus on sustainability and options for the adventurous couple.

Located in a more remote atoll, Laamu is the perfect honeymoon spot for those wanting to escape. But the resort isn’t just about getting lost, there’s also plenty of things to do for the more adventurous couples.

There’s a great surf spot right off the island that is generally empty, as well as snorkelling and diving straight off the jetty. And if you’re looking for something more chilled, the private sandbank experience is a must.

Also if sustainability is important to you (like us), Six Senses has the largest marine research and learning space in Maldives. They have amazing initiatives to work with local communities and protect the surrounding environment.

Como Cocoa $$

Beautifully small & quiet island with natural elements and a focus on wellness.

Como Cocoa is very small and naturally aesthetic, perfect for a quiet honeymoon with a focus on wellbeing.

Probably the best food in Maldives (in my opinion), with fresh, delicious healthy and comfort foods. And when paired with the perfect long sand bar and the rustic architecture, you have the ultimate chill place to connect with yourself and your partner.

Kandolhu $$

Tiny island for an intimate experience that can be done on a budget.

A tiny 30 villa island that almost feels like it’s just for you and your partner. Kandolhu is definitely a more affordable option on this list of resorts that are worthy of the honeymoon splurge.

I’d suggest booking the overwater villa – there’s only a few – for floor to ceiling glass bathrooms overlooking the lagoon and sunset views. Despite the small size of the resort, there’s good variety of cuisines too – including a taco bar (yes, that’s right).

A great honeymoon spot for those wanting to immerse in nature and spend quality time together.
