If you’re looking for an unparalleled way to experience one week in the Maldives, you’ve come to the right place. From pristine natural islands, to unbelievable underwater encounters, luxury accomodations & bucket-list experiences, Four Seasons Maldives is unrivalled.

Four Seasons offers a truly unique concept with two perfectly positioned resorts, complimented by a luxury vessel that is dedicated to underwater adventures & exploring remote atolls. These offerings make it possible to see & experience it all in a short amount of time! We spent one week with Four Seasons, cruising between their properties Landaa Giraavaru & Kuda Huraa on The Explorer vessel. This is our experience!

FOUR SEASONS EXPLORER

Four Seasons Cruise Boat

One of the best & most incredible bucketlist experiences of my life! The Four Seasons Explorer is an intimate floating hotel for up to 22 guests, pampered with air-conditioned suites, dining room and sun deck. Cruising through Maldives’ turquoise waters, you have everything you need onboard, with the added benefit of Four Seasons service.

The Explorer is ideal for certified divers, as well as snorkellers of all experience levels. I personally appreciated the confidence & wealth of knowledge of the onboard team of dive masters & marine biologists. I always felt safe & therefore was able to enjoy each experience to its fullest!

We chose the 3 day cruise, but you can also join the Explorer for a 4 or 7 night cruise! Across all itineraries you’ll have the opportunity to dive/ snorkel up to 3 times a day, with each trip offering diverse dive sites & marine encounters.

No matter which itinerary you choose, you are up for the time of your life!

Each dive offered up something different – from a beautiful sunrise dive on an abundant table top reef to technical dives with drifts, anchoring, and underwater caves! My favourite was the night dive. Facing my fears and plunging into the darkness was nerve-racking. But seeing all the corals opening up and experiencing the reef only by torchlight was something I won’t forget (and probably would never have done, if not for the experienced team onboard The Explorer).

The itinerary is so full and you sleep soundly every night after delicious dinners and sharing stories with the small group of fellow ocean lovers.

For those wondering about other activities during the cruise, you won’t be disappointed. You’ll enjoy a ‘sandbank day’ between dives, where you’ll be whisked away to a private stretch of pure white sand to enjoy indulgent massages, beach activities & sun beds! This was our favourite day on board & we especially loved the sunset cocktails & bespoke group dinner that followed!

LANDAA GIRAAVARU

Drone Shot of Landaa Giraavaru

We love coming back to Four Seasons Landaa! The lagoons vivid blue tones surrounding the resort, as well as the islands private sandbank make this one of the most naturally beautiful locations in Maldives!

The food is another reason why we keep coming back. Healthy breakfasts at Blu and Mediterranean dinners at the overwater Al Barakat literally make my mouth water! The best way to end a day is walking or biking home via the islands palm lined jungle paths – imagine balmy evening air, lanterns illuminating the surrounding lush greenery & birds singing. Massive vibes!

Other mentions:

  • We tried wake surfing on Landaa’s state-of-the-art ski boat – so much fun & highly recommend!
  • If you want to see the island from a different vantage, try parasailing. This was one of our all time most memorable Maldives experiences!
  • Head to the island boutique where Four Seasons stocks our sustainable swimwear line!
  • Our in-villa massage was the ultimate luxury
  • We stayed in an overwater villa and beach villa this time around and Landaa is one place where the beach villas might even be better.

KUDA HURAA

Boat arrival at Kuda Huraa

Four Seasons Kuda Huraa is the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. And located only a short boat ride from Male International airport, it’s the perfect spot to stay before jumping onboard The Explorer.

There’s so many things to love here. Stunning overwater villas, immaculate beaches for swimming, coral planting & turtle rehabilitation initiatives and access to an abundance of nearby epic surf breaks.

However the island spa is my absolute favourite aspect of the resort! It’s truly unique & taking a ride on the tiny tradition Maldivian dhoni boat to reach the spa, is an experience in itself. You’ll feel like a goddess before you even arrive, followed by one of the best spa experiences of your life!

Other mentions:

  • The Indian food is amazing. We witnessed the way they cooked so authentically using a tandoor on a previous visit and the tastes are so reflective of that.
  • Beautiful, curated gardens and palm tree perfection everywhere on the island
  • Turtle rehabilitation centre where you can witness first hand turtles being rescued & cared for by the amazing Marine Savers team

As you can see, we did A LOT in our one week experience with Four Seasons Maldives. If you are passionate about coral and marine life, the Explorer is the best way to experience a lot of underwater time and at some of the most pristine reefs. And since The Explorer departs and disembarks from the Four Seasons resorts, there’s no better place to relax, unwind and enjoy inland time either side of your boutique sailing experience. Enjoy!
